Myrrh CO₂ select Extract is created from wild-collected myrrh resin using gentle supercritical CO₂ extraction. This method preserves the most valuable aromatic compounds, especially the heat-sensitive furanosesquiterpenes, which give myrrh its deep resinous character and strong skin-supportive properties.
The result is a warm, balsamic, earthy extract recognised for its calming, protective, and restorative qualities. It is ideal for skincare, aromatherapy, ceremonial blends, and natural perfumery.
Why CO₂ Myrrh Is Special
CO₂-select extraction captures a fuller aromatic and therapeutic spectrum compared to steam distillation. It preserves:
-
furanosesquiterpenes (such as isolindestrene and lindestrene)
-
heavier sesquiterpenes
-
resin acids and unsaponifiables
-
up to 70–90% essential oil content
The aroma is warmer, softer, rounder, and slightly sweeter than distilled myrrh.
Producing 1 kg of extract requires 8–14 kg of resin.
Key Constituents
-
Isolindestrene (furanoeudesma-1,3-diene): 37.8%
-
Lindestrene: 12.2%
-
Curzerene (isofuranogermacrene): 11.9%
-
alpha Santalol: 0.40%
These components give the extract its strong protective, restorative, and antimicrobial qualities.
Aroma Profile
Warm, balsamic, resinous, softly smoky, earthy, and gently sweet.
Less sharp than distilled myrrh, with a rounded, comforting depth.
