 Zurma Botanical Oil Studio is a small-scale whanau (family) business owned and operated by Tremane Barr (Ngai Tahu) and Jytte Glintborg, based in Christchurch (Aotearoa-New Zealand). We have a passion for organic, natural health and body care products, in our life and our business. We sell all our products online through our website or through local NZ retail stores.

Our Zurma brand range is focussed on providing our customers with the highest quality pure and natural Essential Oils, Nut/Seed Oils, Extracts, Infusions, Hydrosols, Waxes, Butters, Natural Cremes and other Skincare products. Our Essential Oils are our pride and joy and are widely known as being some of the best quality oils you can buy. Where possible we provide Certified Organic product options.

Bio Whenua

Our passion for high quality organic and natural skin care has driven us to create our new range of products we are now selling under the brand name of Bio Whenua. In developing this range we have put an emphasis on incorporating native plant material where possible from our very own Aotearoa (New Zealand).


Bio Whenua can be translated as Bio = Life and Whenua = Land. Combined together they encompass the Māori principles of Kaitiakitanga (Sustainability) and Mauri Ora (Good Health) which speak of life and us as the living protectors that nurture the land and the biodiversity it sustains. When we talk about sustainability in our business, we really mean it. 

There is no reason why we can’t look and feel good in our own skin, while also sustaining the health of the beautiful land we live on.
