Amyris essential oil has a woody, sweet and sometimes faintly peppery aroma. It is often mistaken for Sandalwood. Amyris is used in aromatherapy for its antiseptic, sedative and emollient properties. It takes years to produce this oil Amyris wood needs to dry for 3 years before being distilled, once distilled it needs to rest for a further year. Amyris is known as candle-wood in Haiti where it grows wild, due to the resin being highly flammable.

It takes years to produce this oil - Amyris wood needs to dry for 3 years before being distilled, once distilled it needs to rest for a further year. Amyris is known as candle-wood in Haiti where it grows wild, due to the resin being highly flammable. Amryis wood is traditionally turned into torches and makes beautiful furniture. While Amyris smells similar to Sandalwood it is an entirely different plant species.

I was recommended to purchase Sandalwood, and decided to try this one. Lovely aroma. Quite a thick oil so a little slow to drop from bottle in diffuser. 25ml size is great.
