Melt & Pour Kumarahou NZ Soap
Melt & Pour Kumarahou NZ Soap
The powerful kūmarahou is a plant native to New Zealand.
Along with their therapeutic benefits, kūmarahou flowers have saponins, which are natural surfactants that generate a frothy lather that may be used to gently wash your hands and body without the use of the harsh chemicals typically found in soaps.
These saponins are the reason why kūmarahou is so effective at cleansing skin. The blooms of this plant provide a natural lather when combined with water, which 19th-century bushmen discovered could be used to remove kauri gum off their skin. kūmarahou is hence frequently referred to as "gum-diggers" or "bushmen's soap."
kūmarahou contains beneficial flavonols as Quercetin and Kampferol, making it beneficial for overall health.
kūmarahou melt & pour soap is easy to work with and is a great cleanser that lathers up beautifully leaving the skin feeling clean and moisturised. Has a mild neutral pH.
Made here in New Zealand, this soap base is easy to melt and pour to make your own soap. Essential oils, vegetable butters (e.g. Shea Butter) and/or nut & seed oils can be added to create your very own luxurious soaps. A long lasting soap that gives value for money.
How to melt the soap base:
- Put the soap base into a pot (the smaller the pieces the faster it will melt) along with any other desired ingredients e.g. Shea Butter, and/or any nut and seed oil.
- Put pot on a gentle heat so it is hot enough to melt the soap, but not boiling.
- Before the soap base fully melts, pepare your chosen soap mold.
- Once the soap base has melted, leave it to cool slightly before adding any essential oils (If the melted soap is too hot the essential oils will evaporate).
- Safely pour the melted soap base into the moulds and leave to harden. This particular soap hardens up quickly.
- Once soap bars have cooled down and are solid they are ready to use. Enjoy!
