Steam-distilled from the vibrant flowering tops of the Lavandula latifolia plant, Spike Lavender Essential Oil is a uniquely invigorating and highly active botanical, distinctly different from traditional "true" lavender (Lavandula angustifolia). Yielding a beautifully clear liquid, it presents a fresh, floral-herbaceous aroma that is instantly characterized by a sharp, penetrating, and distinctively camphoraceous top note. Because it naturally contains significantly higher levels of camphor and 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol), this oil is fiercely stimulating rather than sedating, making it an entirely different tool in the aromatherapist's kit.

In holistic formulation and targeted physical care, Spike Lavender is highly prized for its profoundly clearing and deeply penetrating properties. It serves as an exceptional botanical active in highly effective muscle rubs, joint-soothing balms, and targeted first-aid gels designed to quickly ease the sting of insect bites and calm localized inflammation. In ambient diffusion, rather than preparing the mind for sleep, its piercingly fresh character acts as a formidable respiratory tonic—clearing a heavy head, deeply purifying a stagnant room, and powerfully restoring mental focus and alertness during times of fatigue.

Skincare Ritual & Well-being Applications: Within a deeply targeted holistic care toolkit, Spike Lavender serves as a profound botanical catalyst for physical recovery and respiratory clarity. Diffusing 3–5 drops of this fiercely fresh oil instantly cuts through mental brain fog and a stuffy atmosphere, making it a brilliant companion during the winter months or during long hours of study. When beautifully diluted into a restorative post-workout massage oil or a cooling joint rub, taking the time to vigorously work these penetrating, camphor-laced notes into heavy, aching muscles transforms a standard recovery step into a deliberate, energizing ritual that actively relieves tension and breathes vibrant new life into a fatigued body.

Formulation & Safety Guidelines:
Application: Designed for targeted muscular and joint massage formulations, respiratory support blends, post-workout recovery balms, and invigorating atmospheric diffusion. It is not recommended for sleep or relaxation blends.

Formulation Note: This is a highly active pure essential oil with a potent camphoraceous profile. For topical cosmetic or targeted physical applications, we strictly recommend a standard dilution of 1–2% in a suitable high-quality carrier oil (such as Jojoba Oil Golden, Almond Oil Sweet, or Coconut Oil Fractionated (MCT) or a lipid-based massage emulsion.

Storage: To preserve its highly volatile terpene profile and crisp camphoraceous notes, ensure the bottle is kept tightly closed. Store in a cool, dark environment away from direct UV exposure and extreme heat.

Safety: For external cosmetic and atmospheric use only. Do not ingest. Do not apply undiluted to the skin and never apply to broken or highly irritated skin.

- Contraindications:
Due to its elevated camphor and 1,8-cineole content, Spike Lavender should not be used on or near the faces of babies or children under 6 years old. It is also recommended to avoid use during the first trimester of pregnancy or if you suffer from epilepsy.

- Always perform a patch test on a small area of skin when trying a new diluted botanical product. If you are under the care of a healthcare professional, consult them before use.

Zurma Essential Oils – Highest Quality Pure and Natural

At Zurma we go to great lengths to ensure that we only sell the highest quality pure and natural essential oils. We have searched the world for the best essential oils. Our in-house quality control system ensures that this high standard is maintained for all our essential oils. Every essential oil comes with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) and Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GCMS) test to confirm that they are genuine and authentic essential oils containing their correct active constituents.

The only exception to this is with the New Zealand small scale essential oil producers we buy direct from e.g., Lavender, Mānuka, Kānuka, Tea Tree etc. This is because we know and trust these growers who distil their own essential oils.

Finally, all essential oils have to undergo our own in-house smell, appearance and feel test and if they are not up to our high standards, we simply send the product back to the supplier. Based on this quality control process we believe that the 100% Pure and Natural essential oils that Zurma supplies to our customers are of the highest quality and are excellent for use in aromatherapy.
