Castor oil is valued in cosmetic formulation for its deeply nourishing, occlusive nature. Rich in ricinoleic acid, it helps support skin hydration, comfort, and barrier function, making it especially useful for dry, rough, or compromised skin. It is commonly used in balms, ointments, and massage oils where long lasting moisture and skin conditioning are desired.
Applied to the ends of dry hair, castor oil helps soften, protect, and reduce the appearance of split ends. It is also widely used in traditional castor oil packs as part of self care and massage rituals.
This oil is extracted using a cold press process only, with no chemical solvents used at any stage.
Packaging note
Our 1L and 5L sizes are supplied in food grade, cosmetic approved HDPE bottles. For those who prefer glass, we recommend decanting into a glass container and storing away from light.
Traditional context
Castor oil has a long history of traditional external use across many cultures, including Ayurvedic practices in India and folk remedies in parts of Europe and the Canary Islands. These historical uses form part of the cultural background of castor oil, though modern use is primarily focused on topical skin and hair care.
Safety note
This oil is intended for external use only. Castor oil is best applied to intact skin or used as part of cosmetic formulations. It is not recommended for use on open, infected, or non healing wounds. If a skin concern persists or worsens, advice from a qualified healthcare professional is recommended.

Thank you for my purchase of the Castor Oil. I have started using it in conjunction with baking soda to try and heal a small wound which has been very stubborn so I am waiting to see if it helps. Any other suggestions would be gratefully received.
I was a little surprised that it came in a plastic container instead of glass as I have been led to believe that the plastic can leech into the product.
Other than that, it is early days but I have used castor oil in the past and it has a multitude of good benefits.
Fantastic to deal with and fast delivery 😀
Beautiful product,Zurma you should be very proud of your castor oil well packaged and it’s working already. Thank you.
Following recent research from Auckland University on the potential benefits that cold-pressed Castor Oil may have for the eyes, I contacted Zurma for information. The team were knowledgeable and helpful with regard to fulfilling my order requirements. I felt the product I bought was ethically sourced and produced with a team willing to listen and learn.
There are so many bogus suppliers online that I find it essential to source a company that is trusted and puts the customer first.
I would highly recommend Zurma and feel safe shopping there again.
Did not know very much about this product but I read everything on your web page. So I thought to give it a try. I rub the Frankincense and castor oil into my operated knee (I have had a knee replacement) every day two or more times and have noticed quite an improvement. More flexibility and not so much pain. Early days yet, but it seems to be working! I love that you put it all in bottles, I also bought Comfrey and Castor oil and just Castor oil, and great web-site. Thank you Zurma
