Steam-distilled from the fragrant leaves and delicate flowering buds of the Origanum vulgare herb, this exceptional Oregano Essential Oil from Turkey is a remarkably potent, highly active botanical extract. Yielding a pale yellow liquid that naturally deepens in colour as it ages, it presents an intensely warm, spicy-herbaceous, and powerfully camphoraceous aromatic profile.

In clinical aromatherapy and targeted holistic care, Turkish Oregano is revered as one of nature’s most formidable purifying agents. Boasting an incredibly high concentration of carvacrol (82%), it is a powerhouse botanical traditionally utilised to support a healthy immune response and combat seasonal threats. However, due to its massive phenolic content, it is considered an exceptionally "hot" and aggressive oil. It requires immense respect, precise formulation, and strict adherence to safety protocols, making it a specialized tool best suited for experienced formulators or under the guidance of a qualified aromatherapy practitioner.

Skincare Ritual & Well-being Applications: Within a deeply targeted holistic care toolkit, Turkish Oregano is not a daily luxury oil, but rather a profound botanical defender reserved for times of acute need. Rather than incorporating it into daily beauty rituals, it is best utilised during the winter months or periods of physical vulnerability. Diffusing just a single drop (beautifully anchored with a softer oil like Pine or Cedarwood) can help powerfully purify a stagnant environment and support respiratory clarity. When specifically and safely diluted into a targeted, localized rub, it serves as an intense, warming botanical intervention to support resilience and actively honour the body’s natural defence systems.

Formulation & Safety Guidelines:
Application: Strictly for highly targeted, heavily diluted therapeutic applications, immune support blends, and heavily restricted atmospheric diffusion. Not recommended for general cosmetic skincare or daily moisturising formulations.

Formulation Note: This is an exceptionally strong, highly reactive essential oil. It is a known severe dermal and mucous membrane irritant. For any topical application, it must be vastly diluted. Essential oil safety experts recommend a strict maximum dermal use level of 1.1%.

Storage: To preserve its highly active phenolic compounds and robust aroma, ensure the bottle is kept tightly closed. Store in a cool, dark environment away from direct UV exposure and extreme heat.

Critical Safety Warnings:
- Never apply undiluted to the skin under any circumstances.
- Contraindications: Absolutely contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It may cause embryotoxicity and inhibit blood clotting.
- Do not use topically on babies or children aged 2 or younger.
- Avoid use entirely on hypersensitive, diseased, or damaged skin.

Because of its potential for severe mucous membrane irritation and drug interactions, our strong recommendation is that Oregano essential oil should only be used under the direct guidance of a professional, qualified essential oil practitioner.

Zurma Essential Oils – Highest Quality Pure and Natural

At Zurma we go to great lengths to ensure that we only sell the highest quality pure and natural essential oils. We have searched the world for the best essential oils. Our in-house quality control system ensures that this high standard is maintained for all our essential oils. Every essential oil comes with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) and Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometer (GCMS) test to confirm that they are genuine and authentic essential oils containing their correct active constituents.

The only exception to this is with the New Zealand small scale essential oil producers we buy direct from e.g., Lavender, Mānuka, Kānuka, Tea Tree etc. This is because we know and trust these growers who distil their own essential oils.

Finally, all essential oils have to undergo our own in-house smell, appearance and feel test and if they are not up to our high standards, we simply send the product back to the supplier. Based on this quality control process we believe that the 100% Pure and Natural essential oils that Zurma supplies to our customers are of the highest quality and are excellent for use in aromatherapy.
