Lavender Maillette has a distinct aroma that is sweeter and softer than most Lavenders which is because of its dominant ester, Linalyl acetate, and a very low camphor content. This gives the aroma a clear crystalline bouquet effect that makes it a favourite choice in aromatherapy applications for children, in skin care and cosmetics, and in perfumery. Lavender Maillette is great in a diffuser to help calm those who are experiencing nervous or bodily tension as research has shown Lavender to have calming and mood-enhancing effects.

Lavender plants thrive in poor, rocky soil in many parts of the world, however, France is still considered to be the premier growing region where this Lavender Maillette essential oil comes from. Maillette lavender is cultivated clonally from a plant propagated by cuttings. The variety was introduced by Pierre Grosso, of Grosso Lavender fame, to France for oil production and it is the main L. angustifolia grown there today.
