Our Cleanser is a gentle face wash with a beautiful calming aroma that comes from the essential Oils of Ylang Ylang and Mandarin. Both Raspberry Leaf and Manuka hydrosol have proven antibacterial activity to help reduce acne causing bacteria and to improve the skin microbiota. These hydrosols also impart a very mild astringent activity that reduce pore size and oil production. The herbal extracts of Kawakawa, Kiwi Fruit, Blackberry and Strawberry provide rich nutrients that work synergistically to cleanse, nourish and improve skin condition.

Te Rongoā Māori: At Bio Whenua we love to incorporate the use of Aotearoa (New Zealand) native plant materials and extracts into our products. Organic Manuka Hydrosol forms the base for this Cleanser and comes from the steam distillation of Manuka plant material used to make Manuka essential oil. The Manuka hydrosol is the water left behind from the distillation process which now contains a myriad of beneficial natural organic compounds. The Manuka hydrosol also helps give our Cleanser it's light aromatic undertones. The native Kawakawa plant has been used by Maori for many different cultural and therapeutic uses. This Kawakawa extract has been included as it has an anti-inflammatory effects that helps cleanse and soothe the skin.
The Meaning of Bio Whenua
Our brand name Bio Whenua can be translated as Bio = Life and Whenua = Land. Combined together they encompass the Maori principles of Kaitiakitanga (Sustainability) and Mauri Ora (Good Health) which speak of Life and us as the living protectors that nurture the land and with it ourselves. Visually the top of our logo design represents the Kaitiaki (protector), instilling life into the Whenua (land) which is the bottom area.

We continue to look for new ways to promote sustainability through our business which is why we're so excited about our partnership with The Abel Tasman Birdsong Trust! Their aim is to protect and enhance the biodiversity in the Abel Tasman National Park so that it can once again be filled with the wonderful sound of native birdsong.
