Dr. P’s now famous Aquamarine Frankincense is the rarest frankincense in the world. The blue-green aquamarine colour of the oil comes from being distilled in copper. Has an amazing aroma that also has been improved by the oil interacting with the copper still.

Why is this Frankincense so rare (and therefore expensive)?
Out of the literally MILLIONS of kilograms of resin that get processed each year out of Somaliland only a few hundred kilograms of this type of resin that is different from the normal alpha-pinene type that most of us are used to seeing is currently available for making into essential oil. To make matters worse, you only get about 1% yield from this type of resin which is only 1/6th the yield that a distillery would get from good resin from this region. So even if this resin were available in larger quantities the cost would be about 6 times the normal frankincense oil to produce it.
What is so special about this essential oil?
Apart from the rarity of the resin (and expense to produce) and the amazing colour due to it being distilled in a copper still it also has a different chemotype compared to ordinary frankincense’s because it contains methoxy decane as it’s main component. An In-Vitro study indicates that it has a pronounced cytotoxic activity against MCF-7 breast cancer cells, but this in no way is a claim to being any kind of cure for cancer just a noteworthy aspect of its biological activity.
Also the aroma is greatly improved due to the interaction with the copper because the copper destroys the trace amounts of sulfur components that can arise during distillation processes that can give an oil an off odor, especially when freshly distilled.
