Oakmoss absolute is produced from the lichen that grows on Oak trees otherwise know as Oakmoss. It has an earthy, woody, decaying mulch, fungus and mossy odor with leather undertones. It has a very high fixative value and blends well with all other oils, so is very sought after by the perfumery industry. It has Expectorant, Antiseptic & Demulcent properties that support the Respiratory system. Can be used with children for asthma, bronchitis & coughs. Other names it is known by are Lungwort, Lung Moss & Oak Lungs. However we recommend using it primarily for perfumes. Oakmoss is soluble in alcohol and only partly in carrier oils. Blends Well With: Anise, bay laurel, clary sage, cypress, eucalyptus, geranium ginger, jasmine lavender, lemon, lime, neroli, orange, palmarosa, patchouli, petitgrain, rose tea tree, vetiver and ylang ylang.

Actions: Antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal, antiseptic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, soothes skin irritation, wound healing, supports respiratory function, expels excess mucus, eases coughs, grounding, releases traumatic emtions.

Safety Data: Skin sensitization (high risk). Do not use on hypersensitive, diseased or damaged skin. Do not use on or around children under the age of 2 years. Tisserand & Young recommend a dermal maximum of 0.1%. Because Oakmoss Absolute poses a higher risk of causing irritation and sensitisation, it is also recommended that it be avoided in the bath, even if solubilized/diluted.
